More Singaporeans study in Australia

More Singaporeans are heading Down Under for their university degrees, on the back of the fall in the Australian dollar last year. And, with Singapore recognising more degrees obtained there, numbers are expected to pick up even more.

Latest figures from the Australian High Commission show that nearly 1,800 Singaporeans started their studies at Australian universities this year, the highest figure since 2012. This is a rise of more than 10 per cent from 2015, according to statistics. Of this, three in four are undergraduates and the rest post-graduates.

Jamaica Govt calls more corporate partners for Education

The Jamaica Government is calling on more corporate companies to partner with the island’s educational institutions in a bid to boost their outputs.

Online Grocery Attracts Spain Consumers

Hispanic shoppers are more involved online when grocery shopping than their non-Hispanic counterparts, according to the latest HispanicLink study from market researcher firm IRI.

Hispanics tend to shop online more than non-Hispanics in several critical categories, such as fragrances and beauty, cosmetics and general households goods. In the United States, six segments of e-commerce shoppers exist based on their attitudes and behaviors regarding the activity: e-shopping enthusiasts, variety seekers, review seekers, selective e-shoppers, e-shopping resistors and e-shopping avoiders.

Prakash Javadekar: New Education Policy to Boost Indian Languages

All Indian languages including Sanskrit, will get a boost under the New Education Policy (NEP) that the government is working on, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Wednesday.

Govt : Improvement in PG Medical Education

Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI) has urged the government to improve and standardise the post-graduate medical education in order to address the shortages of doctors in the country.

Govt : No Plans To Make Urdu Compulsory

Government is taking steps to promote Urdu language but has no plans to make it compulsory in school education, the Rajya Sabha was informed.

 Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said government is taking a number of steps to promote Urdu and other languages. "There is no proposal to make Urdu compulsory in schools," Prakash Javadekar said in a written reply.
